Trail Description

ebike allowed or not caveat

 E-bikes NOT allowed on Bunchgrass

Bunchgrass is a very primitive segment of the Eugene-to-Crest trail that connects Fuji Mountain trail to Oakridge. It’s a steep, rough, and physically demanding trail.

Now part of the Oregon Timber Trail, Bunchgrass has had a lot more trail work on it over the last few years. Increased usage by bike packers and random riders should help keep the trail riding well.

Fires and COVID shut-downs in 2020 halted trail work so expect it to be more overgrown than usual this year.

The Oregon Timber Trail, working with the USFS and ATCA, are in the process of flagging and creating a new single track trail from Fuji Mountain so that riders will have a 100% singletrack experience from the Waldo Lake region to Oakridge. This trail (unofficially dubbed “Fugrass”) should be ready potentially by the end of 2021. Fingers crossed!

Closed because of the Cedar Creek Fire.

  2. Joe Myers

Bunchgrass is clear from 5883 (Eagle Camp) to Oakridge. The whole trail is very rugged and it’s brushy in the upper section. Thanks to Nathan Frechen, Paul LaCava, Jesse from Portland, Jen Pasquarello and Joe Radatti for the work. Not an easy task!

*Heckletooth: 5871 to 207 is still closed pending fire damage repair.
